Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM) revealed in a disclosure report that they've spent $2.52 million in the second quarter on lobbying the Federal government.
While targeting a number of related issues, offshore drilling in the face of the BP (NYSE:BP) oil spill was among the more important.
Last year in the second quarter Exxon spent $.427 million on lobbying the Feds, and $3.39 million in the first quarter of 2010.
For the second quarter Exxon lobbied the Interior Department, Executive Office of the President and Congress.
Other areas of interest being lobbied were continuing sanctions on Iran and clean energy legislation.
The report was filed on July 20 with the House of clerk's office.

Scientist's Saying BP's (NYSE:BP) Losing 850,000 Gallons Daily
As the debate continues, independent scientists are estimating that BP (NYSE:BP) is losing at a minimum, 850,000 gallons a day. There are many scientist that are in agreement that BP and Obama's administration continue to downplay the actual amount of oil that is spewing at a massive rate.
"This is an all hands on deck crisis, and we need to use every asset the U.S. has, including the defense department and all of its most sophisticated technology," said Rep. Ed Markey.
There has been many members of Congress, local officials, as well as environmental organizations in the effected states, that are pushing for the federal government to take over the oil response efforts.
Sen. Lamar Alexander, on CBS's Face the Nation, seemed to advocate the government simply taking over BP as a whole.

BP (NYSE:BP) , Halliburton (NYSE:HAL) , and Transocean (NYSE:RIG) Are Pointing The Finger At Each Other
Now BP (NYSE), Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), and Transocean (NYSE:RIG) are having to show evidence before Congress concerning issues related to the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil Rig. Of course, each one is blaming the other for the incident.
Despite the ongoing efforts, all attempts are futile. There seems to be no stopping or hope of even containing the Gulf Oil leak, despite the attempts of BP.
It continues to expand by the hour. There is a huge danger to marine life as well.
Even with the President opening the doors for all possible resources to be used, there seems to be little that can be done at this time.
