BP (NYSE:BP) Signs Deal with JA Solar (Nasdaq:JASO) for Solar Cells

China-based JA Solar (Nasdaq:JASO) has lined up a deal with BP (NYSE:BP) to supply them with 185 megawatts of mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline solar cells for mostly 2011

BP is acquiring the solar cells via its BP Solar unit.

A deal is already in place between JA Solar and BP to supply 85 megawatts of cells for 2010.

In September, JA said it had garnered several contracts to supply 500 megawatts total for 2011. That was after the raised their sales guidance for 2010 from 1,000 megawatts to 1,350 megawatts.

Compared to 2009, 2010 has been a much better year for solar, and demand is expected to increase going forward, although there are a lot of questions on margins and earnings, even though revenue will increase.
